Joyce and Steffen – El Cortijo de los Caballos, San Pedro, Marbella

El Cortijo de los Caballos, San Pedro, Marbella

Joyce and Steffen´s Special Day

This was the 3rd wedding of my consecutive trilogy at El Cortijo de los Caballos, San Pedro near Marbella, but they were all different that’s for sure. So what can I say about the wedding of this lovely Dutch couple Joyce and Steffen, well I always seem to gel with the Dutch and this was no exception. They were a lovely polite couple who had travelled to Spain by motorhome, combining their wedding with there honeymoon and enjoying some sighting on Europe.
Below are just a few of my personal favourite images and the story of their day…

Joyce and Steffen’s day
Preparation
I captured some images as Louise of Posh Hair & Beauty curled Joyce’s hair. Her elegant dress hanging from a curtain pole over the window looked absolutely gorgeous and we watched this beautiful princess turn in to an even more beautiful princess. Outside, Steffen greeted guests and the kids played football whilst light guitar music was played in the background.
Ceremony
With a few days of rain prior to the wedding and some more forecast anytime, marquees were set up in the garden just in case, but with no sign of rain yet Joyce walked down the aisle of red rose petals to an ever calming ceremony conducted by Lizzie of Marriage Wedding Services. After a meaningful reading the rings were passed by their very cute sons who played their part well and some very proud mums lit the candles and kissed their children. As promises and rings were exchanged, Joyce had a tear in her eye and they both choked, as they got slightly overwhelmed with emotion while speaking.  After the signing of the certificate of blessing their sons presented them with a hand made gift which brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Many guests held hands as Lizzie gave some wise words of advice to Joyce and Steffen and there were big smiles as they walked back up the aisle to the terrace and many hugs and kisses of congratulations. The rain had held off so far!
Reception
Souvenir magazines saying “Yes I do, The wedding of the year” that were compiled to commemorate the shared lives of the happy couple were given to friends and family while the kids went with a child minder to play in a bit of garden adjacent to the terrace. We wanted some portraits with the boys, but the youngest boys attention span was pretty short, so my silly baby voice (in English of course, not Dutch) got him smiling and giggling and caught his attention just long enough for some images. The kids went back to play and I got some more romantic photo’s with just the newly weds. Family and friends joined us under a balcony for some family portraits and a group shot from up on the balcony and I then announced that dinner is up.
Party
With still no sign of rain, an amazing flame grilled barbecue was used by Toni of Terra Sana Catering to serve some lovely food, including a choice of fresh meats and fish with a lovely crisp salad. Grandma then entertained the kids by whipping them at table tennis and there was lots of fun and laughter all round as everyone got involved in celebrating the happiness shared by Joyce and Steffen.
