Denise and Daragh´s Wedding Day

Casa de los Bates, in Salobrena was the stunning venue for the celebrations of the wedding of Denise and Daragh. I first met with them and their cute son during their visit to Puerto Banus last September and I knew straight away that they were a lovely couple and that I would love to cover their photography needs at San Antonio Church and Casa de los Bates. It is important to me that I feel comfortable talking to my clients as I will be there on their special day. My style is to stay as far in the background as I can but quite often the Bride & Groom will regularly refer to me for times, dates, directions and all sorts, you would be surprised.  Iv’e been known to supply glucose sweets, needle and cotton and more from the kit that I have in the boot of my car and a shoulder to cry on even. So, I guess what I am saying is that I need a Bride & Groom to feel more than comfortable approaching me whilst I remain in the background as much as possible.

Below are just a few of my personal favourite images and the story of their day…

Denise and Daragh’s day
Preparation
Their wedding day preparations started at a private villa in Pueblo Andaluz, Nerja. The bridesmaids looked pretty in pink and there was a multitude of different shades of it in their beautiful theme including bouquets of roses, fans and coordinated decorations. I left bride getting ready and went to the church which was a short drive away and a 10 min walk through the picturesque streets of the pueblo. The guests were in a bar at the Plaza de la Iglesia (church square) just literally outside the church itself, they were lapping up water and the odd beer. With temperatures souring into the 40’s by now, guests enjoyed the fine spray of refreshing water coming from the framework of the umbrellas every few minutes, this water was not good for my new 5D Mkiii that I had literally just bought, but the spray was keeping us all fresh which was very welcome in this heat
Ceremony
We entered San Antonio Church and the groom looked very happy to be getting married, the bride was smiling also as she was walked down the aisle by her proud father. The priest was funny throughout the ceremony and although it was all in the Spanish language and being translated, this just possibly made it even funnier to hear his bossy but humorous mannerism. There were smiles all round as rings and vows were exchanged and guests enjoyed a truly enjoyable ceremony. While some close friends of theirs played soft music, I managed to capture a stolen moment in time, where by Denise & Daragh thought no one was looking and had a really quick but obviously loving kiss. After the ceremony, guests headed back into the same bar “La Taberna del Sacristán”  for some more refreshments and to escape the ever increasing heat.
Reception
I walked around the quaint spanish village with the happy couple for some portraits before they dropped me at my car as it was a long walk back to it and they headed off. Guest’s then left in coaches for the 25 minute journey to “Casa de los Bates”, a unique 19th century house set in the heart of Granada. We arrived there just before the guests so Denise & Daragh nipped in to freshen up before enjoying some cocktails and canapés with everyone in the garden. We managed to capture a few more portrait shots in the grounds and they appeared to enjoy this time alone as they smiled a lot and there was lots of kissing. They soon headed for the main terrace at the front of the house to eat as this was truly a picturesque setting for such a beautiful dinner to be served. Speeches followed dinner and they cut the tradition 3 tier wedding cake before we all headed down through the gardens and down some beautiful stone stairs to another lower garden where the entertainment was to start
Party
Music was played by DJ Dave Hixson as the bride and groom shared a loving first dance and was followed followed by some lively music to let the fun and dancing begin. People seemed to be enjoying themselves and everybody continued to congratulate the happy couple whilst drinking and dancing the night away.
A beautiful day with lots of fun and laughter . It was truly a pleasure to meet such a lovely couple and I wish them every bit of luck in their future together.
